Description
The album commemorates 750 victims who perished in the German extermination camp in Bełżec. It constitutes a genuine portrait of the Jewish community that lived in the Lublin, Galicia, and Kraków districts of the General Government. Simultaneously it includes a collection of personal recollections given by the families themselves. That documentation results from the years or research done by Ewa Koper, an employee of the Museum and Memorial in Bełżec. The visuals primarily include the victims’ portraits taken before the outbreak of World War II. Each image is accompanied by biographical notes of 114 people and some information about their families. The album comprises three chapters devoted to the deportees from the Lublin, Galicia, and Kraków districts respectively. The publication is supplemented with an index of names.
